Steel deck production and packing of Dhaka Airport completed

After Solideck completed the supply of steel deck for the VIP terminal of Maldives Airport in April this year, it signed a steel deck supply contract with the customer for Dhaka Airport in Bangladesh on October 28. The production and packing of the steel deck has been completed .

Profile of Dhaka Airport

Dhaka Airport is the largest airport in Bangladesh. With the strengthening of international exchanges, the original airport can no longer cope with daily shipping, and the expansion of Dhaka Airport began in 2018. This is Solideck’s second influential project after completing the steel deck supply for Dhaka University in Bangladesh from 2019 to 2020.

Crating of different steel deck types

The area of the steel deck in the contract is about 10,000 m², of which SD65-510, with a thickness of 1.0 mm, has an area of about 2,000 m²,, SD51-750, with a thickness of 1.0mm, and an area of about 8,000 m². The yield strength of the two steel deck materials is 345 Mpa. The amount of galvanizing on both sides is 275 g/m². Seven 40 HC containers were used for the steel deck, and Solideck finished packing the seven containers in only one morning.

There are some difficulties in the crating process because there are many differences between the steel deck types of SD65-510 and SD51-750. SD65-510 is a flat deck that cannot be stacked together like SD51-750; SD51-750 is a  trapezoidal deck that can be stacked together, which reduces the space. For the steel deck, Solideck uses side steel groove fixing to ensure that the steel deck is not damaged during transport due to deflection.The customer came to visit the steel deck factory in the morning and guided the packing.
