The three stages of steel deck calculation
Regarding the three stages of steel deck calculation, although steel deck has been used in China for more than 50 years, there are still a large number of practitioners who do not know much about it.
Steel deck calculation is mainly divided into three stages: the construction stage, the using stage and the fire resistance stage.
The construction stage
The construction stage refers to the stage in which the steel deck is used as a stress member in the process of pouring concrete until the initial setting of the concrete after the steel deck is installed. At this stage, the steel deck is used as a force-bearing member, and the concrete self-weight and construction load of workers are used as calculation loads. The main calculation is to consider whether the strength and deflection are satisfied without temporary support. If it is satisfied, there is no need to add temporary supports, otherwise it is necessary. Adding temporary supports not only increases the construction cost, but also affects the speed of installation.
The using stage
The using stage refers to the stage of bearing the later live load and other static loads after the steel deck and concrete form the composite floor. At this stage, the composite floor is used as the force-bearing member, and the live load and static load of the building are used as the calculated load, that is, whether the load borne by a building after it is put into use can meet the requirements and whether there is excessive deflection. At this stage, the calculations mainly include positive bending moment and normal section shear force, oblique section shear force and deflection. There are many calculation requirements at this stage.
The fire resistance stage
The fire resistance stage, the fire stage mainly refers to whether the positive bending moment and deflection of the steel deck composite floor can meet the requirements within a certain period of time in the event of a fire, so that the floor will not be damaged on a large scale. The calculation coefficient of the design value of the material at this stage is different from that of the normal stage, and the calculation coefficient of the load is also different. And this calculation specification is also different. It is believed that the British “BS” specification is more suitable for the calculation of the fire stage of the closed panel. Solideck generally adopts this specification for calculation.
The calculation of the three stages of the steel deck is still quite important. The steel deck is a stressed component, and safety issues must not be sloppy. Better project owners and designers will require the steel deck manufacturer to issue relevant calculation books, not just for assessment The means of the manufacturer is also the embodiment of professionalism.
